Principe de l'affichage multiplexé

Lorsque le système impose plusieurs afficheurs, le nombre de composants devient très vite important. Aussi est-il nécessaire de multiplexer l'allumage des afficheurs. Chaque chiffre est alors éclairé pendant un court instant. De cette façon un unique décodeur peut servir à plusieurs afficheurs. Chaque ligne comportant un afficheur doit posséder un amplificateur driver pour obtenir un courant suffisant. En utilisant un code à 3 bits on sélectionne un afficheur à DEL parmi huit par l'intermédiaire d'un décodeur. Certain circuit combinant le balayage et l'amplificateur (scanner driver) simplifient la programmation et accroissent la vitesse de fonctionnement. Le multiplexage diminue le nombre de composants et réduit la consommation.

La limite inférieure de la fréquence de la tension de commande est de 30Hz.

La tension d'horloge VH est appliquée à la fois :

            sur             l'électrode arrière réfléchissante
                        et sur             une entrée d'un opérateur ou exclusif.

Une tension VC de commande d'allumage est appliquée sur l'autre entrée du ou exclusif.

           pour VC=0v, la tension VS est égale à VH,la          lumière ne réfléchie pas, le segment reste éteint.
                    pour          VC=5v, la tension Vs est opposée à VH, la tension appliquée au segment est alternativement à +5v et -5v par          rapport à la plaque le liquide est opacifié, le segment est affiché.
